Disney Theme Parks Battery-operated Monorail Playset Review

So when my folks asked me what I wanted for my birthday - and I knew they were headed to WDW - I requested only one thing. This monorail set takes our Disney Tree to a whole new level. Let's start with some of the potential downers. Its somewhat fragile. Its more of a show piece than an actual toy. It probably won't hold up to a whole lot of manipulation from junior. Its also battery powered(2 AA's) so it doesn't have a whole lot of pep. And even though it can travel in both directions, going backward is even slower than going forward.
That said, this monorail is amazing. After putting the batteries in, and before even starting the monorail down the track, it announced, "Please Stand Clear of the Doors." For the WDW fan in your house, there's probably not many other ways to instantly put you in that Disney mindset. The beams are easily assembled and keep the train in place quite nicely. It comes with enough track to make an oval, though we opted for a basic circle around our tree. The monorail has a flashing light on the top of the cab and a headlight at the front of the train, just like the real deal. You also have the choice to play the announcements or to just have the monorail circle the beam without audio.
I've got to say that, even with its few shortcomings, this monorail rocks. Its just a terrific way to bring the Disney Parks home for the holiday. I'm half tempted to pick up another color(Disney cycles through the available trains) when we go to visit Disney World early next year. For collectors, or for your own family tree, I'd say that this monorail playset is a winner through and through.

LEGO Toy Story Woody's Round Up (7594) Review

(More customer reviews)We have all the Toy Story sets, except the 'giant' Zurg and Buzz, which we can't find (except on e Bay at JACKED UP prices!). As of today, Amazon is not carrying them and Toys R Us is sold out. My 7 year old loves these sets. They are great Lego quality.I know some people buy Lego sets to collect, but these are Toys at our house and are played with heavily since Christmas. Lego getting the Toy Story license was a nice idea, good business for Lego, good fun for Toy Story fans. It's a win win situation! (ha just had to say it)
If you can afford it, buy it!
I have to agree with the other review, as a reminder, if you're tempted to buy this for a younger child, this probably isn't suitable for anyone younger than 5-6 at the lowest unless closely working with an adult. Younger children WILL want to play with them, and unless you're completely sure there is no chance of these pieces being swallowed, I would use age-wise caution when purchasing.
Of course, all good Moms and Dads know this anyway!
