(More customer reviews)This AristoCraft track is the same quality as the track that comes with AristoCraft train sets, but it is made to look right with most old-time or European train sets such as those made by Bachmann and LGB. In fact it fits with LGB "G Scale" track mechanically and visually, although the ties are black instead of brown. This track is weather-resistant, so you can leave it outside in your garden for years on end. Even if you're running your trains indoors, this is a huge improvement over the all-plastic track or plastic-and-sheet-metal track that comes with some trains.
That said, if you have room for larger curves, such as the 5-foot, 8-foot, or 10-foot diameter curves (also available from Aristocraft), you won't be sorry - Trains look better and run better on larger curves. But if you're cramped for space you should know that, you can't buy a better quality 48" circle of large scale brass track than this one.
The #11000 set of 12" straight pieces from AristoCraft are a nice addition to this set.
If you're running modern trains trains, such as most AristoCraft and USA trains, you might consider using the "USA-style track" equivalents: AristoCraft # 30100 curves and #30030 straight pieces. Don't stress out over the differences between the two styles of track, though - they're mechanically identical, and any Large Scale train set will work with either style of track.
