Bruder Toys Caterpillar Excavator Review

Bruder Toys Caterpillar Excavator

I bought this for our 3yo son who loves heavy equipment and digging in the dirt. This is a cool toy as far as being a pretty good replica of a real one but it does not work well in dirt or sand. Fine sediment gets caught in tracks and after a short amount of time, the tracks quit turning. Then the handles on the arm do not move the bucket well. My son has since ripped off the tracks and does not do any digging with it but still enjoys pushing it around. Don't buy this if you want your kid to actually dig dirt, it would be good inside toy or outside but away from dirt or sand. But, I think it was intended for playing in these areas, so the rig is not that well designed.

This 1:16 scale replica of a Caterpillar Excavator is just like the real thing! Realistic details include individually linked tracks for real movement and sound, an easy-to-use shovel arm with removable bucket that is operated with a handle, a cab that rotates 360? and a hood that opens to reveal the ventilator grill. There are even some included rubber inserts that attach to the tracks to give them grip on slippery surfaces like tile or linoleum.

KidKraft® Train Table Review

KidKraft® Train Table

What little boy or girl doesn't love trains? I have a 5 year old girl and a 1 year old boy and every time we go to one of those stores with a train set like this one out for the kids to try I always have a hard time dragging my kids away. Well, now my kids can play with a train set as long as they want!
This set comes with the perfect amount of trains, cars, and track for several kids to play at once and keep one kid entertained for hours.
My kids are also fond of Thomas the Train whose vehicles are fully compatible.
The table is very sturdy while the 120 piece train set is also well made and you cannot beat the price which I would have been willing to spend just for the table alone.
I would highly recommend this set to anyone whose kids like trains or have had to be pried away from an in store display.

BRIO Remote Control Express Train Review

BRIO Remote Control Express Train

This red engine has resparked my kid's interest (& me too) in his wooden train set. However, when it comes to climbing with more than 3 cars, the nose of the engine rises and then just loses traction with 5 cars or more. Our work-around is to add weight to the tip to keep the nose down. Tacky... but now my kid can pull 6-7 cars during climbs. We're using the Brio tracks, not sure if the (knurled) Thomas tracks would've provided more traction. If Brio were to perfect this train engine, I'd suggest weighing down the nose-tip area and maybe have at least two drive axles (the front axles in addition to the rear axles). It was a pleasant surprise to actually see batteries were included. However, I recommend replacing the two AA in the front engine with better ones... it's peppier around the tracks and better at climbing.
