(More customer reviews)If all 18 pieces are used, it's a rather long span. Sliding E-Z track into it wasn't as smooth as I hoped it would be, but it's workable. I wouldn't expect kid to do it without getting a bit frustrated. The grade is a bit too steep for my 0-6-0 steam engine, it starts loosing grip and wheels are slipping while pulling a tender and three cars as soon as it starts climbing. Removing one car gets it up the slope -- hardly. Loosing one more car (pulling only tender and one car) gets it up the slope easily. It would be great if somebody with this set or the 14 piece set and/or some other type of locomotive could comment if she or he experienced the same problem.
The box claims it should be compatible with other track+roadbed systems (though it doesn't mention any specifically).
