(More customer reviews)Of all the Pillow Pets out there, which one did my daughter want? The pterodactyl. Not the ladybug, not the puppy, not the moose, not even the panda. No, she wanted the pterodactyl. It being her favorite dinosaur, she was thrilled when we walked by a little booth that sold Pillow Pets and saw a pterodactyl one. It looks like this guy is selling out at most stores and sites quickly, so we had to hurry and get one before the price skyrocketed like some of the others. By now, most of you should be familiar with Pillow Pets: big, soft stuffed animals that can be used as pillows. They feature a little strap on the side that has a velcro closure so you can bundle it up a little. There are tons of different animals to choose from, including some kinda obscure ones like what you see here.
The pterodactyl looks great- exactly as it does in the stock picture. He's pretty big, and just as cuddly as the other Pillow Pets. The eyes are hard plastic (probably the only thing here that could pose a threat to a small child), and the teeth feel like a hard felt, as to keep their shape. The pterodactyl itself is made of super soft chenille, but I wouldn't go by the 'machine washable' instructions shown in the commercial for these. The tag clearly says 'surface washable', and I can see one of these falling apart after a couple of trips to the washing machine. It's also worth mentioning that because of the material, if it's used as a pillow, the user will probably get hot while sleeping. Other reviewers for other Pillow Pets have mentioned waking up with a soaked Pillow Pet, so maybe it's better off a something to cuddle with. Still, kids have a blast playing with these, and don't be too surprised if they start having little Pillow Pet parties. There's really nothing bad I can say about this guy, aside from the inflated prices some people are listing it at. The clerk at the Pillow Pet shop I got this from mentioned that the pterodactyl is a limited edition one, so that could be the reason.
The fact that they made a pterodactyl Pillow Pet is rad in itself, and the fact that it's cutely ferocious is an added bonus. If your kids like dinosaurs and want a Pillow Pet, you can't do much better than this [or the triceratops one]. I just might get one for myself because it's so soft and puts all other pillows to shame.
