(More customer reviews)This seemed like a great toy for my 18 month old who loves trains and loves saying his numbers and letters. The toy is INCREDIBLY LOUD!! It has the Thomas the Train theme playing in the background constantly, and the volume is way too high. I have put duct tape over the speaker to help, but it's still over-the-top! I also agree with others that a backlit screen would be nice. My son is always moving all over to see what is on the screen.
The age range seems appropriate, but we got it for our 18 mo old because he loves letters, and there are no small parts. Though he is deliberate about pressing a certain button, he almost always presses others by accident. The buttons that change the games and modes are on the bottom, and he accidentally exits his game a lot. I bet older kids would be better about that, but it would be nice if the mode buttons were at the top!
Overall a good concept, but I want to throw it out the window sometimes...and that's coming from a middle school band director who can tolerate a LOT!
