(More customer reviews)This three unit Brio set gives a nice modern spin on the classic wooden train. Modeled after the 700 Series Nozomi ("Hope") Shinkansen ("New Main Line") "Bullet Train," it is painted white with blue stripes like the Japanese prototype and includes painted window and roof detail. (However, it looks more like the 300 Series.) Due to the length of these cars (approximately 4"), they each run on two 4-wheel trucks or bogies which allow the cars to make sharp corners. An ingenious design utilizing a pair of eye hooks allow the trucks to move but keep them from turning too far. The set uses the standard Brio magnetic couplers which allow pieces in this set to couple with other Brio pieces and of course the wheels fit Brio (and other brands using the same standard) wooden track.
The age recommendation is "3+" and it is manufactured in China. Overall, it looks like a lot of fun and I can't wait to give this set to my nephew so we can both play with it. I wish I had this set when I was a boy.
