(More customer reviews)My son loves Dinosaur Train. I, like so many of you, waited patiently for the toys to be released. I didn't and still don't understand why it took an entire year but it did. Once they were listed on Amazon, I ordered every single one of them - imagining the look of joy on my son's face as I clicked each one into my shopping cart. When they were delivered? My first thought opening the box was, "This is it?!"
The train, cars, and figures are all very small. They're flimsy. The workmanship is poor: the pegs and holes do not fit. They look like something I'd find in a $1 junk bin or a gumball machine. If I'd seen and held these before buying, I would have put them back on the shelf without a second thought. I really hope the 700% profit is going to PBS but I really doubt it is.
But our kids want Dinosaur Train toys, right? What I would recommend are the more expensive (and overpriced) Interaction Dinosaur Train toys or the Plush Dinosaur Train dolls.
As for me...For the same price, I ended up going to a local Natural Science museum where I picked up realistic dinosaur toys from the museum giftshop. They're more durable, my son loves them, and I know the profit is going towards science education. Meanwhile...the Dinosaur Train figures languish in a plastic bin in his closet.
