(More customer reviews)In general, I think the various Bachmann train accessories and structures are a good bargain. The are reasonably priced and they allow you to build a fun train set without spending a lot of money and worrying about "collector quality" stuff. My 6 year old son and I are enjoying doing just that, and we have a couple of the Bachmann buildings that we have put together and painted. Sometimes the pieces or fit aren't quite perfect and you have to mess with them a bit, but hey, if that really bothers you, this kind of hobby is probably not for you. It's half the fun, and at these prices it's not at all upsetting. This little stand of trees, however, was a little more disappointing. First, the "trunks" stuck through the flat plastic bases, and protruded beneath the base in two of the three. Meaning they wouldn't stand up. So I got out my X-Acto kit and slid the trunks up and trimmed the bottoms. On one, the trunk slid out of the bottom while I was doing this, and when I put it back in, it wouldn't sit tight. Even when I got the bottoms flat and the pieces back together, I couldn't get two of the trees to stand up. They fall over. I'm not stupid, I tried bending the trunks this way and that etc. Sometimes they would stand for a minute, then fall over. We ended up gluing all three down with Superglue. Maybe that's the idea (the box actually suggests taking off the bases and drilling holes slightly smaller than the trunks in your train table and putting the trees in the holes, which is fine...if you have a permanent setup and don't mind drilling). But they do come with bases, and one would think they should stand up. Anyway, once glued, they are fairly attractive and do add to the scene. Larger bases would help.
