(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 8 year old as a special surprise. We were both excited to have a fish with personality that she could interact with and enjoy. But there are a couple of problems with the set:
- The fish is so poorly designed that it doesn't go down the slide. It gets stuck in 3 different places. Because it gets stuck, when you have to push it, it goes farther than it should and either tilts over or misses the bottom magnet that moves it completely.
- The magnets that move the fish and make it swim are visible - coupled with the grinding sound of the moving parts, there's not a lot of magic left to imagination.
- We couldn't get the fish to learn anything. It is supposed to hear voice, tapping on the side of the tank, etc. - it doesn't. All we can do is push the feed button and hope something happens. I think it should have had a bit more interactive buttons as well instead of just one.
- Water has to be cleaned out every 2 days or strange icky white things appear in it. Gross. And for the age group this is targeted at, it means extra work for mom.
- If you leave the fish in the water for extended periods, it will get ruined.
Right off the bat, with the slide feature not working (and that's supposed to set off the fish's daily routine), it was clear we had a design dud here. My daughter admitted she was disappointed and hasn't played with it since. Now I have to get the water out of it and put it away. In all, I regret the purchase.
