My son & his cousins LOVE Thomas - LOVE HIM. And if you are reading this review, you know that he can be expensive. One way around that is to buy the cheap tracks, but the real Thomas Engines - but the toy makers figured that out pretty fast so outfitting your tracks with Thomas can still be pricey.
I bought this toy purely because it was a Thomas Engine for less than $5.00. For that price I wasn't expecting much. But I was pleasantly surprised. The picture of the product is completely missing the boat that Thomas is floating on (Thomas at Sea!!). But rest assured - Thomas is only floating on the boat - you can just take him off & put him on a real track & throw the boat away if you want (don't know why you would do that).
Even though this was supposed to be a gift for my nephew, I carefully cut the tape on the package so I could verify that Thomas is not connected & is also the size of his Wooden Railway counterparts.
I would highly recommend this product. Its being offered for $3.99 with Prime Shipping available right now. The "plain" Thomas engine (with no boat) is selling for $9.57. More than double. Its a no brainer.
