The irritating revving noise is on ALL THE TIME that the toy is turned on. It is so loud and grating- that even the kids hate it. If your child is even a little skittish- there is no way to make them enjoy this toy (unless maybe you are mechanically inclined and can disable the revving).
Plus- the one button design turns out to be way more complicated than you'd think. You have to alternate- one time you push the button it makes the car go; the next time it makes it spin around. Even the adults had trouble trying to make it work smoothly. And when you pair the constant jarring noise with the complete unpredictability of what will happen when you press the button, it turns what was meant to be a fun toy into one that is terrifying for my toddler. A good one to 'accidentally' send to goodwill.
