(More customer reviews)I realize they don't make these anymore, so this is a bit late, but I couldn't help myself. This toy is amazing.
When we got it I didn't think much of it. Tiny LCD display, hard to figure out the controls, and the games just seemed dumb. But my older boy pretty much learned the alphabet from it. He played it constantly when he was about 2 and it was amazing how he was able to learn all the games. He used it in the car on long trips. Took a long time for him to get bored.
And the younger one is totally into it now. He's three years old with autism and is just learning to talk, and he loves this game. He says the letters and numbers and learned to recognize all the letters in the alphabet and is now starting to write them on a whiteboard.
Ideal age is just when they are about to learn letters and numbers. My only complaint is it doesn't have a good reference for all the different games. You have to explore it. And the random game button doesn't bring up some of the games at all.
