(More customer reviews)When my sister and I were children, we were true Lego-holics. We both saved all our pocket money for Lego, and we always asked Santa for more. When we reached puberty, we were the proud owners of a huge Lego village. We even had a designated "Lego room" at our house. When we grew older and moved away to college, the Lego village moved to the attic.
Now you can start with Lego as young as 1 year. When my daughter was 8 months, I bought a box of quatro. She built countless towers, and she still opens the box now and then. She loves to stack the blocks and then pushes them over. When my daughter turned 2 years, my parents gave her a suitcase full of Duplo Lego. Occasionally she would play with her Duplo Lego a little, but it was not until she turned 2.5 years that she really started enjoying to explore the endless possibilities.
During our last visit to Belgium, my daughter got her first Duplo Lego Train. It is a battery powered train that runs for 2 minutes at a time. My daughter loves to fill up the gas tank (of an electric train??) which makes a funny noise. She does add her own little touch to the whole scene: the passengers are not humans, but dinos!
First my sister and I, now my daughter... yes indeed, we can officially call it a family tradition!
Duplo Lego is ONLY made in Europe (no worries about lead paint or any other chemicals), and is known for its great quality and durability. My "old" Lego village in Belgium still looks like new. But of course, quality comes with a price tag. Duplo Lego is not cheap, but if you ask me, worth every single penny.
