(More customer reviews)Purchased recently as a holiday gift for our 2.5y-old but immediately caught the attention of his two older siblings to the point they can play with it (and around it) for nearly an hour without interruption. Can't say much as to pros and cons of this specific model and how it compares to others on the market, just highlight a few facts:
* The level floors are finished plywood, painted black with realistic looking road marks. IMO, this is an excellent choice of both material and decoration, making this toy a lot more appealing to kids at all ages. This is unlike some other (highly regarded) wooden garages I've seen, which use natural wood.
* The graphic design in general (color scheme, artwork) is very old-school and unpretentious; this is a big plus in my book.
* It is really well constructed. You will spend some 15 minutes assembling it, which will make you appreciate the design even more... the elevator is a nice touch, and so is the landing surface used for covering the shaft.
* Has a rather compact footprint, a good fit for smaller rooms.
* Comparable toys by other manufacturers cost between $60-100. A regular price tag of $40 makes this model a very attractive option. At $21 (!) this is a steal. Watch out for frequent price fluctuations over the holiday season...
In summary, I feel that this is a great choice for a solid, imaginative toy that our kids can enjoy for years to come. Oddly enough, it felt like a classic from the get-go. My only minor gripe so far is the "hybrid" label imprinted on the two included wooden cars, which (IMHO) only diminishes the classiness and brings upon an unnecessary "missionary" spirit...
