(More customer reviews)I believe the recommended age on this train is 8 and up, but all my 5 y/o wanted for Christmas was an electric train. We were hesitant, assuming an electric set would either be broken within hours or require constant assist from us to rerail, etc. I came across this one for a good price so we got it and have been pleasantly surprised with its durability. It came with extra couplers, but we have not needed to use them yet even with a 2 y/o sometimes knocking it off track. My 5 y/o can use the rerailer to get the trains on track independently. Also, the track system can work right on our carpet (plush) so we did not need a board or table for set up. We can put it back in the box when not in use although that has not happened yet.
The extra accent pieces were just little plastic road signs that probably would not stand up unless glued to a surface and they need to be painted. But not a big deal to us as it was the train and track we wanted. Very happy with our purchase.
