I have had to replace my train whistles several times over the past 12 years, but this whistle will likely take me to retirement. It has a very clear, crisp sound that carries well. It fits in my pocket so the curious cannot "try" it - (how I lost two of my whistles). The construction style makes the whistle all of a piece, and it is made of wood, so there is no chance of breaking off the top, (how I lost two plastic whistles.) Overall, a very good tool at a very reasonable price.
