This piece is fun, no doubt, and, it is well-constructed as are all of the Thomas items. I compared this piece with the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Rumblin Bridge and Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Deluxe Over-The-Track Signal and purchased this piece for my son. I wish I'd gone with the signal.
This piece (and the rumblin bridge which is the same idea) takes up a LOT of space on the board and really I am not sure if we will be able to integrate it into our layout... ever. The bridge part will be fun but to use the under passes takes a serious collection of the 3 1/2 curves to fully utilize, and a lot of empty table space. Because the tracks pass underneath this piece has to be smack dab in the middle of the set, or combined with a lot of elevated pieces which is very advanced building. You need a piece of ascending track on each side (included) which makes the piece take up about 70% of the table length. If you have other major pieces like the roundhouse or buildings you may not be able to use this one at all.
Instead I'd really recommend the Deluxe Over-the-Track Signal (linked above) for the underpass equivalent or the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Sodor Bay Bridge for the bridge action. Just run regular track under that for the same idea and a MUCH more flexible space.
