(More customer reviews)I purchased this set for my 3-year-old's birthday. I didn't expect much except a bunch of loose pieces. That exactly what I got.
The pieces come in a flat rate box via USPS interlaced with styrofoam packing peanuts, so if you're looking to give this as a gift, I wouldn't really recommend it. Aside from that, I'm satisfied with what I purchased for the amount I paid. I don't think you'll find this much stuff for less, or even close, actually.
All of the track pieces are just as good quality and mate perfectly with all of the Thomas tracks.
I do have a couple of negative things to report, which are my reason for rating this product 4 stars instead of 5.
A) One of the gates on the road crossing had come unglued in shipping or beforehand and I had to reattach it myself with wood glue.
B) There are no male to male or female to female adapter tracks so making complex layouts with the pieces provided is difficult at times; if not impossible. The included switch tracks often require you to loop tracks back around to themselves (creating a male to male or female to female scenario) so including a couple adapters would have made a lot of sense.
Regarding Jesse's Toy Box (the seller as well as the manufacturer): they shipped relatively quickly, even in the midst of a billing snafu on my part. :)
