(More customer reviews)Flex track is the way to go. I use it almost exclusively over individual straight and curved segments. The length of track, being continuous and smooth and true, is much more reliable in terms of train derailments and smooth operation - with that said, you can even run your trains faster with this track. Of course, this only works for a fixed layout where the track is properly nailed down. At this point, the only other bought track that I use is basically switches. These are very compatible with Marklin switches - the variation in rail height is insignificant.
