I was extremely pleased to see Bachmann doing a D.C. Transit version of the PCC streetcar (they call them trolleys). Since I model N scale, I hope they release an N scale version soon. Meanwhile, this HO model makes a nice display model of my memories of Washington, D.C.'s fleet of nearly 1,000 PCCs. One disappointment was that the coloring is not as distinct as the actual cars. This is D.C. Transit's final paint scheme and the "electric blue" is not the right shade. Too bad that Bachmann didn't do more research into this. They probably used a faded photo to copy the paint colors. One would have a hard time actually matching the D.C. PCCs since they were unique in the fact that they were shorter than most of the PCCs. DCTs cars had only four windows behind the rear doors... most models have the typical five. One important thing to note is that the photo on this page is NOT a PCC. It's a model of an Amtrak electric locomotive. You can see the actual Bachmann model on Bachmann's website. In spite of the off color, I still highly recommend this. This is a reasonably priced model, well made by Bachmann with a limited lifetime warranty.
