When you push the bottom Sir Topham hat appears and he greats the trains in this set by name, as well as all the trains with the talking logo at the bottom. Make sure you buy the trains with the engine recignition technology, and NOT the talking trains. We find it good to stagger the special trains among the regular ones to give Sir Hatt time to name the trains. Regular trains will also get a response from him, but only if he is visible. Otherwise, as the trains pass they make "train" sounds. As the engine recognition tech trains are pricey, this set is a great value!
