(More customer reviews)when i came across the transformer's astrotrain toy, i immediately decided to buy the japanese takara version over the american hasbro one, primarily because of the classic g1 colors. out of my collection, this is the only takara version i have and i was willing to pay the extra money for it. the toy is great overall, of course with one slight disappointment.
the transforming of the toy is simple and quick, and the triple changing is a cool feature. the toy is sturdy, stands well, and poses very well. i'm most satisfied with the colors - very accurate to the g1 cartoon, astrotrain would not be himself without his purple painting (great compared to the bland, plain hasbro painting) - and also the metallic purple jets on his back are a great touch.
my biggest complaint about the toy, which is pretty minor, is the size. astrotrain was one of the larger transformers, able to carry multiple others in his shuttle form, yet the toy is one of the smallest out of the collections - maybe a bit larger than some of the other autobot cars or decepticon planes. i hate having him next to classics universe/generations toys like inferno or optimus prime who tower over him. other than that, i love the toy, its a great buy and one of my favorites!
